Consultant Cardiologist | Coronary Interventionist
Dr Joshua Chai is a Consultant Cardiologist at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust. He specialises in Interventional Cardiology including complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
He studied medicine at University of Cambridge qualifying in 2004 and achieved Membership to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2008. He was later awarded a Medical Research Council fellowship and awarded a PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine, from University of Oxford, in 2016.
Dr Chai is an accomplished complex coronary interventionalist using state-of-the-art intra-coronary imaging. He completed specialist interventional training at St George's and King's College Hospitals in London, before embarking on further advanced training at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Dorset prior to appointment as Consultant Cardiologist.
Dr Chai maintains an active research interest in atherosclerosis imaging and vascular biology and has won many accolades including the Young Investigator Award from European Atherosclerosis Society, Finalist award from American Heart Association, and the President Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine. He was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2020.
